Milanah’s Story

Your Support Matters!

At just 25 weeks, Milanah’s mother Allanah found out she had no amniotic fluid remaining. Admitted immediately to Children’s Hospital’s, the expert care team prepared for the tiny Milanah to arrive.

By way of an emergency c-section, at week’s end, Allanah was holding her 25-week, 500-gram baby. That’s about the size of a single pound of butter.

At her small size, preemie Milanah needed all the care Children’s could provide. With difficulty breathing and the discovery of multiple heart defects, Milanah needed life-saving equipment to grow stronger, like ventilators and feeding tubes as well as expert cardiology checkups and respiratory care. Children’s music therapists also comforted little Milanah with a special version of My Little Sunshine.

After 132 days of specialized paediatric care in Children’s Hospital’s Children’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Milanah grew strong enough to go home!

Today, Milanah is a chatty two-year-old, with a love of Elmo and an ongoing love of music. She occasionally pops into Children’s for ongoing monitoring of her lung health, and Milanah and her family are always so glad to have familiar faces keeping Milanah happy and healthy.
