… diagnosed with epilepsy at six, Jaime spent decades living with seizures before finding new hope through treatment at the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit. After a procedure in 2022, she is now celebrating a year without a nocturnal seizure, has returned to work and is driving again. Inspired by her journey, Jaime founded the Epilepsy Support Centre for Windsor-Essex and Thumbs Up for Epilepsy to support others and raise awareness. Her message is simple: when there’s no hope, you have to give hope.

… at just 15, Ayona has faced serious health challenges since birth, including premature delivery, surgery, portal hypertension and multiple internal bleeds. In June 2025, she turned her experience into action by launching The Kindness and Smile Zone, a youth-led initiative bringing joy and distraction to sick and hospitalized children. The project has attracted volunteers from around the world, reached more than 400 children, hosted seven online webinars and donated over 100 handmade cards to Children’s Hospital at LHSC. Now a Children’s Health Foundation Patient Ambassador, Ayona hopes to grow the initiative and inspire other young people to transform illness into purpose and positive impact.
